This wave simulation shows two waves traveling in opposite directions at the same speed. Adjust each wave’s amplitude and wavelength, or drag a wave to shift its phase. Hold the 'Simulate' button to animate the waves and observe how their combined pattern changes over time. The yellow curve displays their sum, making constructive and destructive interference visible. When the waves match, their superposition can form a standing-wave pattern with nodes and antinodes. When their wavelengths differ slightly, the combined wave can also produce a beat pattern, with the amplitude repeatedly growing and fading over time.
